What is #7HR?
What is the Seven Hills aan de Rotte?
The Seven Hills aan de Rotte is a running event like you've never seen before. We're a sister event to the amazing Seven Hills of Edinburgh. Only on Dutch hills, which is less impressive but nonetheless very fun. This year we have our fifth edition, on Sunday 2nd of June. Read all about it here and subscribe!
It's a run of roughly 8 km, runners of all abilities are encouraged to join! There's a bit of navigation involved, meaning if you're not super fast you might still place well. And there's pie for all, so everyone's a winner, really.
We start between 10.00 and 11.00 am. To prevent clogging we don't have a mass start. Rather, the event is done as a time trial, though it's o.k. to start with a smallish group if you prefer.
Hills and navigation
One of the unique features that the #7HR borrows from the Edinburgh counterpart, is that there's no fixed course. All you have to do is pass all the checkpoints (hills) in order. It's a smallscale event, so we do rely on your sense of honour. Not unlike many challenges in the UK fells.
The checkpoints are:

Cost to join
For only €2,50 you get to join the event. Other than an amazing experience, you'll get a nice drinks coaster as a memento. This is something shared with the Edinburgh race. Another tradition we copied is the pie and cakes afterwards. These are provided by some of the runners. If you contribute pie, you enter the race for free!
Past editions
You can read a race report from the first edition, back in 2020, here. Back then, it started as an alternative to running events that were cancelled due to Covid. Due to the success, it´s now an annual event, with or withour pandemics!
So join us on Sunday June 4th!
